GCED Ambassadors' Initiative is a network of progressive and visionary individuals chosen for their influential leadership and championship in the field of transformative education. Our GCED Ambassadors are handpicked to foster the transformative potential of Global Citizenship Education amongst educators, school leaders and policymakers in their respective countries.

This initiative aims to recognize and support dynamic individuals in assisting educators within and beyond their country, to carve active and reflective global citizens and shape a brighter, peaceful and sustainable future.

Our mission is to create platforms and conditions necessary for collaborative learning and responsible actions towards advancing Global Citizenship Education pedagogy and practice.

Supporting ideas and initiatives of those who serve the Global Citizenship Education movement is one of our core values.

We believe that integrated school-wide approach to Global Citizenship Education help create more meaningful, effective and impactful experiences for students and would empower them with necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values to take meaningful and responsible actions to shape a peaceful, inclusive, just and sustainable world.

GCED Ambassadors are doers, go-getters and leaders. At the core of the GCED Ambassador Program is you and your plan of fostering and advancing the global citizenship education movement in your country. That's one thing we look in your application form, realistic and meaninful one-year plan of action for your country!

Also, we do encourage and appreciate your efforts at advancing and leading the Global Citizenship Education movement through:

Initiating and leading projects of small and large scale in support of the Global Citizenship Foundation's goals and work.
Recruiting more educators and school leaders to embrace integrated school-wide approach to Global Citizenship Education.
Recommend Schools in your country to become a member of the Council for Global Citizenship Education.
Leveraging the power of private and public connections to spread the GCED movement.
Creating awareness campaigns and engagement in your country.
Informing and influencing school leaders, political leaders and policy-makers.
Incorporating Global Citizenship Education within your own school/institution.
Conceiving and pitching fresh ideas and strategies to advance Global Citizenship Education.

We are developing new opportunities for GCED Ambassadors to engage with the Global Citizenship Foundation's Council for Global Citizenship Education to help drive forward our mission.

We support and encourage GCED Ambassadors who want to setup complementary projects, contribute articles to our online platform, and run events and intiatives which build momentum around ideas that are central to our work.

Progress toward achieving the Global Goals depends on the actions of global citizens who are empowered with glocal knowledge, skills, attitudes and values.

Global Citizenship Education (GCED) empowers young people to develop the necessary understanding, skills, attitudes and values to take action to resolve local and global challenges and contribute to a more peaceful, tolerant, inclusive and secure world.

GCED is an empowering tool — in the hands of globally conscious and visionary educators — to shape a generation of active and reflective global citizens and leaders of tomorrow!

GCED contributes to the realization of the values and vision of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — by fostering respect for human dignity; tolerance/acceptance; strong and peaceful relationships with diverse people; support for people in need; environmental responsibility and prevention of violent extremism.

It wouldn't be an exageration to say, Global Citizenship Education is a Passport to a Peaceful and Sustainable Future!

SDG 4.7: By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.

Frequently Asked Questions

Unfortunately, GCED Ambassadors are not awarded any financial grants. However, GCED Ambassadors are encouraged to mobilize local resources to implement projects in their country.

Also, we encourage GCED Ambassadors who have additional resources and funding opportunities to assist GCED Ambassadors who might need a little additional support. This could be through planning projects that could accomodate such arrangements.

GCED Ambassadors undergo orientation and capacity-building webinars and events to develop greater understanding of GCED.

You receive membership into the our internal collaborative social network for educators: www.global.workplace.com

GCED Ambassadors also receive capacity-building sessions that aimed at empowering them to foster 100 Acts of Global Citizenship Initiative within their regions/country.

GCED Ambassadors receive the Instructional Material including GCED Ambassadors Toolkit and other resources.

Share the Young Changemakers' Kit with educators and students— includes Young Changemakers' Passport, Young Changemakers' Organizer, Young Changemakers' Project Management templates and resources.

You may ideally spread the word amongst educators in your country and encourage them to participate in the three-day Workshop for Educators 2019 to be held in New Delhi, India between July, 2020.

The GCED Ambassadors are special invitees at the Workshop and are not required to pay any participation fee. However, GCED Ambassadors are required to make their own travel and stay arrangements for the duration of the Workshop.

Within a year of completing the capacity-building program on the GCED Ambassadors' initiative, you are required to perform 10 “Acts of Ambassadors”.

Acts of Ambassadors come in a variety of forms and can be completed in your local community. Examples of Acts of Ambassadors include giving a presentation to principals, educators, and young people; mobilizing resources; writing a blog/article; organizing a 100 Acts event/campaign; introduce GCED Innovative Schools Initiative; or meeting with leaders and stakeholders to garner support for GCED in your region/country.

The Global Citizenship Foundation will offer as much support as possible, but you will be responsible for seeking out opportunities to take action.

During the Annual Conference on GCED, a special track on 100 Acts would cover the following:

The art and science of process-oriented project-based learning.
Foster global competence, global mindedness and global citizenship attributes through 100 Acts of Global Citizenship.
Understanding the key elements of 100 Acts Projects.
How to use the toolkit.
Powerful storytelling, public speaking, and social media networking techniques.
Media engagement strategies.
Best practices in catalyzing the 100 Acts movement.
How educators and change-leaders like you are building momentum to empower young people worldwide.
Design Thinking for Social Good

If accepted to the capacity-building events, any applicant under the age of 18 must be supervised and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Both the minor and his or her parent/guardian must be accepted into the program in order to attend the GCED Ambassadors capacity-building events. The Global Citizenship Foundation cannot provide any assistance with childcare. Due to limited space, only accepted applicants are allowed to attend the training.

Coordinate with institutions/organizations in your region to foster GCED.
Mobilize and create a second line of 100 Acts Ambassadors and action leaders.
Promote the 100 Acts of Global Citizenship projects that are wholly student-driven and student-designed.
Encourage Schools to Adopt an Integrated Whole-School Approach to GCED.
Create a pool of mentors to guide students.
Encourage more teachers and school leaders to embrace the 100 Acts of Global Citizenship for SDGs.
Implementation and expansion of 100 Acts of Global Citizenship initiative, in your city/region/country/network.
Leveraging private and public connections to spread the 100 Acts movement.
Conceiving and pitching fresh ideas and strategies to the Council for GCED.
Informing and influencing key stakeholders both online and in-person.
