Establishing the

GCED

STRATEGIC INITIATIVE GROUP.

What is the Strategic Initiative Group (SIG)?

The School-Level Group Working on the Development of Platform for GCED Pedagogy and Practice.

  • The Strategic Initiative Group (SIG) is a school-level working group with a mandate to integrate, develop, design, contextualize and implement GCED pedagogy and practice within the school using the GCED Innovative Schools' Toolkit

  • The purpose of establishing a Strategic Initiative Group at a member school would be to advance and unleash the potential of Global Citizenship Education through the GCED Innovative Schools Initiative.

  • Only the Principal of the School can be the head of the Strategic Initiative Group and is also the ex-officio member of the Council for GCED.

  • The Strategic Initiative Group comprises of the SIG Head, the GCED Coordinator, and the Three Committees:

    • Academic/Curriculum Development Committee (SIG-CDC)

    • Continuous Professional Development Committee (SIG-CPDC)

    • 100 Acts (of Global Citizenship Mentors') Committee (HAC)

  • The Head of the SIG shall identify a suitable GCED Coordinator and members for the three committees. A Strong SIG headed by a visionary school leader is at the core of unleashing the transformative potential of Global Citizenship Education.

  • Educators inducted into the Strategic Initiative Group of the school also benefit from the GCED Teacher Fellowship.
