A CASE FOR GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION

The hope and promise of the fruits of democracy are based on the health and stability of the democratic fabric of the society and how we deal with the threats posed to this fabric.

A country can be a true world leader when its social, political and industrial structures are founded upon an enlightened citizenship.

There is widespread acceptance on the significant role of education in mitigating the threats to a healthy and vibrant democracy.

And there is a general consensus that expectations for citizen engagement are much broader —than merely voting and law abidance— for democracy; democratic institutions and processes to thrive.

Fostering Young People to Take Responsible Action.

BENEFITS OF GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION

Global citizenship education helps children and youth:

  • Develop a greater understanding of countries, communities, and cultures around the world;

  • Explore questions about democracy, justice, inequality, governance, and organization;

  • Learn to work together to create solutions that try to address local, national and global challenges;

  • Develop knowledge, skills, and competencies to make positive contributions to society as informed and responsible citizens.

OUR WORK

Global Citizenship Foundation fosters:

  • Skills and knowledge to critically examine political and social issues;

  • Keen awareness and understanding of politics, democracy, government, and law;

  • Comparative understanding of economic systems and financial literacy.

  • Skills and knowledge to weigh evidence, discuss and make reasoned arguments;

  • Young People's capacity for change and their ability to take their place as responsible world citizens.

As a result, our work also prevents young people from becoming 'radicalized'.

OUR INITIATIVES

Our initiatives are aimed at promoting a stronger culture of global citizenship by teaching young people the skills and values of effective citizenship. Our initiatives empower and connect a rising generation of effective, engaged, change-bearing citizens, and leaders.
