Day 1: GCED Workshop for Educators 2018 India
GCED Workshop for Educators 2018 India, organized in New Delhi by Global Citizenship Foundation in cooperation with Bal Bharati Public School and other GCED League Schools, began with an activistic dance performance by the students.
Mrs. Suruchi Gandhi, Chairperson of the GCED WE 2018 India, welcomed the renowned educator Mr. Ashok Pandey, Former Chairperson of National Progressive Schools' Conference and Principal of Ahlcon International School, India and she expressed hope that the workshop would be a excellent opportunity for schools to foster active and engaged global citizenship education in India.
Mr. Pandey delivered the keynote address on the theme 'Carving Global Citizens — Sustainable Way'. He outlined the challenges and solutions in the domain of GCED and the need for an active role of schools to foster SDGs through GCED.
Mr. Aaryan Salman, President of the Global Citizenship Foundation, outlined the Objectives and the way for GCED League Schools in the context of the GCED Project for India. Aaryan spoke of the five core principles at the heart of the Council for GCED and 4 elements at the core of — GCED League Schools— making GCED educator support tools freely available and accessible to schools across the region. Global Citizenship Foundation to provide with technical and collaborative platform for member institutions to implement the project.
A session on GCED Concepts and Teacher Education was led by Ms. Anamika Gupta, National Programme Officer, UNESCO MGIEP.
Ms. Meenakshi Uberoi, Director of De Pedagogics helped the participants dive into different creative dialogical pedagogies that could be helpful in delivering GCED.
Workshop on Design Thinking in Education was led by Mr. Vijay Ghei, Visiting Faculty of Design Thinking, Hult International Business School, he helped the participants deep dive into design thinking helped them in exploring application of Design Thinking in the field of education.
